All things being equal, Ghana’s hope in boxing for some years to come, Joshua Clottey will fight on June 13 in the United States of America.
The Ghanaian who was supposed to fight Mexican Antonio Magarito, in a unification bout, is expected to defend his title against a yet to be known opponent.
But DAILY GUIDE SPORTS gathered that Puerto Rican Miguel Cotto, who lost his last fight to Magarito last July, will be the opponent of the hard hitter Clottey.
Before then, Cotto who has won all his 32 fights will be a difficult opponent for the Ghanaian.
Though Clottey, who has an impressive record of 35 wins, and 2 losses with one draw from 38 fights, reiterated his preparedness to fight former WBO Champion Antonio Magarito, he will welcome a fight with the Puerto Rican.
Clottey has already indicated his resolve to become one of the best in his division.
According to Clottey, the recognition given to him by no less personalities than ex-President Kufuor and the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, as well as Ghanaians in general, has fueled his ambition to achieve greater honours for the country.
Clottey defeated American Zab Judah last year to win the International Boxing Federation Welterweight title.
