Nah, it would. Williams' defense sucks. Even ol' slappy would bitchslap him from pillar to post for a whole fight. I'd say Calzaghe EASY UD, possibly a late stoppage if his hands were not too smashed up.

I could see that happening as well. I think we know for sure that this fight is going the distance in an exciting fight. The workrate would be high, it would look like two buff lightweights out there...lmao. I think Paul might have better reach, so the absence of defense might be negated by that. But, I think we all can agree that Paul needs a little bit more seasoning.

This is just getting crazy. First, as with the case of the hypothetic matchup with Hopkins, his size advantage is lost which is his biggest advantage as the lower weights. It fact he would be at a disadvantage when it comes to size. His speed and power wouldn't be **** at that weight. He relies on volume punching and he can get by with this because people have a hard time dealing with that because of his height and reach advantage and that wouldn't be there. Williams is not a technician - he was figured out by Quintana. So your really left with a very ordinary fighter and Joe would destroy him.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a Williams fan but people are getting carried away.

Yeah definitely. Give him a few years fighting @ at least 160 and he might be able to compete on Joe's level. Some people are obviously underestimating Calzaghe here, but they are known haters anyway. Whatever, even if you don't like Calzaghe, it's hard to ignore his ring generalship and overall skills, even his excellent achievements as an amateur, never having lost a fight since 1990... no way does Williams beat him! That's just laughable.

Oh and reach-wise, it's irrelevant. Calzaghe is a massively underrated inside fighter.

This is a bit of a mismatch LOL. Calzaghe would box his ears off.

if P.Will isn't fightin' at 147.......he's as average as they come.......at 147 he's a phenom......maybe he's still good at 154.......but at 160 and above he's average......it takes more than a average fighter to beat Joe.....Paul would get Lacy'd .....or Kessler'd.......either way he gets schooled!

Wow...you guys give williams no chance...no chance at all? This is the punisher we're talkin' about here.

I'm intrigued by this convo. Paul has built up a fine profile, and he's acknowledged as a dangerous fighter, but you guys actually think the Sardinian will beat him?

                    I know y'all hate Calzaghe...that says a lot...

i could care less about weight in the scenario.

What weight would this happen at? Either way i still see Calzaghe decisioning Williams pretty easily.
