My wild guess would be that the organizers chose the matchups and intentionally put Valero and Barrios in fights they could win knowing that they would fight next and that this kind of stuff would happen and therefore build interest.

barrios just want to make a stir out of his coming fight to make an impression he is in fighting mood again, at least outside the ring.

i can't forget how he was humiliated in his previous fight. if he has valero in sight, he should win impressively because the "japanese chef slayer" is aiming for big names in his next fight and certainly barrios is not one of his target.
