Becoming a legend vs Becoming rich...

Boxing, we all know it's a sport....and we all know it's a business...what's more important for you? legendary status or becoming rich??? if you answer that question to yourself that might tell you why most of the fighters out there don't fight the best but take **** fights instead...money makes the world go round...so don't fool yourselves....money can't buy you happiness or love ...but it sure does help....

    Your thoughts???

as a fight fan, from a fight fan's perspective, i dont give a f(!) about how much they make...im not gonna tell my grandkids 20 years from now about 'how rich a fighter was'

in fact, one of the few times i rooted for Zab was when he accepted close to nothing in his rematch with spinks...it didnt matter that the fight was in St Louis...all he wanted was to get the fight done and get his belts back...

From a fan's perspective, I agree wit Mak. We don't see 1 cent of the revenue the fights generate, so I dunno why so many people on here are so obsessed wit it. From a fighter's standpoint, you put your life on the line every time you fight, so obviously you wanna be rewarded. But once you attain elite status, the $ will be there. Concentrate on fightin the best and buildin your legacy 1st, and you'll be in a position to command big bank in big fights.

Rich. You don't get rich without being well regarded, if not actually 'legendary'. But plenty of legends have ended up in the gutter.

Really? Ask Joe Louis how that worked out for him.

if i was a prize fighter, money is top priority and legendary status comes second.

At the end of the day they are prize fighters. How many boxers would turn pro had it not been for the fact that they knew they could make a lot of money if they become successful?

To become a legend you're going to be in several big money fights so you'll most likely be rich anyway. However every boxers dream is to be financially set for life when his career is over, so if you have to choose then money is a lot more important than being a legend.
