Joshua Clottey Is A Good Solid Fighter But.......

I don't really think he's an elite fighter i don't know what it is. I've seen quite a few of his fights, and he's got a sound defense, good counter punching skills, solid chin.

But to me he doesn't have that world class feel to him when i see him. He's a good all round fighter he doesn't do any one thing well. Which isn't a bad thing but to me he's kind of like Luis Collazo's level, a good solid fighter.

Who would give most of the top fighters a good competitive fight, but in the end he would lose to most of them. I think he will give Miguel Cotto a competitive fight.

But he fights too one paced and he's open too open body shots aswell, and he often fades at times and i think he has questionable mentality aswell. He was easily winning the Carlos Baldomir fight until he threw it away ala Andrew Golota.

And he only had a bruised knuckle against Antonio Margarito, it wasn't a broken hand or ETC. And many fighters have gone through far worse injuries than that and kept there composure and won fights.

But anyway i'll just end this post by saying, i got nothing against Joshua Clottey. He's a solid fighter that deserves his shot, but i don't see any one real elite ability about him. And as i said i think he will be beat by most of the top Welterweights, does anyone feel the sameway ?

I think you just about summed it up. I like Clottey, he has the potential to beat a Cotto. But for reasons listed, I wouldn't bet on it.

I rate him pretty highly. He deserves a shot. That's for sure. We'll definitely find out more about him once he gets it.

there are alot of unanswered questions about clottey - can he really adapt and tune his style to the opponent in front of him? he does seem a little bit one dimensional sometimes and someone like cotto who can study the guy in front of him and has a good jab could find the fight relatively easy.

but the bottom line is clottey deserves a shot against a top fighter like cotto, mosley, williams or berto.

i kow it might be early to say this but big props to cotto who seems willing to take on the most feared and avoided fighters to prove his dominance.

His only problem is that he isnt marketable thats it I see no reason as to why he cant break through. People said the same about Margarito until a little while ago

I think it all comes down to to the fact that he doesnt punch enough! TO me thats all he has to do... hes always in shape, has great defense... and when he does punch he has great tecnique.. sometimes he doubles and triples up his left hooks... but he needs to throw more...
