Boxing matches moving away from Vegas

I hope this trend continues and becomes more of the norm. I'm glad to see and hear that Schaefer and Arum are realizing that they are selling lots of tickets to events that not in Vegas. Margarito and Mosley did really well and this weekend's bout between Marquez and Diaz should do very well too. I'm always jealous of California, Houston, Jersey and New York because there are always huge fights there and Chicago never seems to get ****. I'm really hoping that some more fights end up out here and maybe with the way things have been going, I might get my wish. Anyhow, I'm glad to see less fights in Vegas and more being brought to the people.

As long as they're in neutral or equally fan supportive locations, I like the idea of less Vegas fights also.

Most of the bigger events Houston gets, are because one of the fighters (generally Diaz) is from Houston.

Unfortunately I know that's the case and Chicago really doesn't have anyone that big here. I think when they had the Diaz-Morales fight here they were expecting a bigger turnout but I blame both of the unsuccessful matches (Diaz-Morales, Diaz-Diaz) on poor marketing and promoting. Regardless, the crowd, small as it might have been for the Diaz-Morales fight was deafening and sounded like a packed arena.
