Yes, he's right, Cotto won't go 12 round, Cotto will make him quit before that!!!

If this fight happens I think Cotto will win a clear UD and this is why: Clottey lacks lateral movement; usually uses one punch not combos; when he does punch he tends to leave himself open and sometimes will lunge forward as he punches perfect for counterpunches; has a very high defense which leaves his midsection unprotected, which combined with his lack of lateral movement and his lack of speed is perfect for Body Punches; and last but not least he does not have one punch power. This resume plays perfect for Cotto’s style to beat Clottey by clear UD. If he had one punch KO power, different story, but he doesn’t. Cotto all the way.

i agree, clottey will give cotto problems at times but unless clottey steps up his pressure and aggression, cotto wins a ud or maybe sd

I think Clottey can take Cotto's best shots, but Cotto will outbox him. Cotto by UD

I went on to facebook like a week or so ago when I heard that Clottey was thinking about quitting boxing and said that he wanted to play soccer. I told him that there were tons of fans who wanted to see him fight and that in order to get the fights, he needed to talk sh*it. I also told him that I know talking stuff was not his gig, but that is the way it works in the US. You have to be in the spotlight and publicly make someone look bad...call someone out.

Not saying he is taking my advice or anything, just saying that he knows the true and real opinions of the boxing fans and he knows what he has to do to get this fight made.

Clottey is underestimated by a lot of people, mainly cause people don't know bout him, check out some youtube videos or download something from somewhere. I think that by actually watching him fight, you will develop a different opinion of him if you think he is a slouch or you just have never seen him and think he is no good.

Clottey by sd; since the fight is in MSG, he will most certainly have to ko Cotto as others have said-too big of a PR fanbase and Cotto is more marketable for PPV events

anyone going in and fighting cotto is going to have a hard time, cotto is a beast and top professional, a match between cotto and clottey would be very exciting and would once and for all start to shape up the welter weight division in who is the man at welter weight.

i think a welterweight tournament is in order, like don king did with the middleweights in 2001........................

clottey vs anyone in the welterweight division is a good fight, as long as he doesn't put his hands in his pockets......................
I don't think we need a clearly decisive winner, however, as they could all fight each other over and over for the next 3 years and it would be amazing for boxing.

Even so, I think Cotto will go down as one of the best WW's of all time, and that will include a victory over Clottey on his resume.

Bingo. People seem to also forget that for 6 rounds, Cotto boxed Margarito's face off. Despite the pressure, and the potentially added benefit of plaster bricks, Cotto was simply dominating that fight. When his nose closed up, however, he couldn't maintain the pace, and eventually had to take a knee.

                    Very GOOD Observations!
                    Excellent Post!

I'd factor in Clottey's time off.
It can work either against him or for him.

Getting back into hard training might be difficult after being off since the first week of Aug, huh?

On the other hand, Josh might be really fired up to prove something and take full advantage of the biggest opportunity of his career. Might motivate him enough to come in at peak performance and even with new artillery.
