    A fight for the ages.

How fast can Mayweather think? How many counters can Pryor eat?

I would want to tape the fight from above, and I could watch it over and over again to study the side movement that would be going on.

I'm admittedly biased here; but I definetly favour Pryor. The Hawk was a helluva boxer in his own right and down right unorthodox...just look at some of the moves he put on Arguello in the first fight.

Now, admittedly, Floyd was ten times faster than the Incredible Thin Man; but Pryor had great speed of his own and a chip on his shoulder the size of the Rock of Gibralter. Sometimes that "chip" is the added edge a fighter needs....of course Floyd's got a "tude" all his own; but it was a different type of attitude.

Floyd builds up an early lead and maybe even stuns Pryor; but Aaron eventually catches up. Whether he wins a decision or by kayo is anyone's guess...or for that matter, if he wins at all; but my money's on the Hawk.

I don't see that early lead happening. Against someone of Pryor's level, Mayweather would certainly lose (waste? invest?) the first few rounds of the fight to learn. Pryor would be pressing the action (and landing quite a bit).

After the learning part, that's when we would get an unbelievable fight. Mayweather would have to fight, courtesy of Pryor movement, he would start throwing heavy artillery and landing at a scary rate. Pryor would keep on coming, throwing and landing. Going in the late rounds, both fighters would be starting to be surprised that the other guy is still doing his thing (kind of like Thrilla in Manila). At that point who knows... what would give earlier? The Hawk's chin or the Pretty Boy's coolheadedness?

Cervantes is an ATG, if not, he's at least a second tier great. He was old, but far from a journeyman.

They said he was just a slugger, a no skill dynamo until he gave Alexis Arguello a boxing lesson, sticking and jabbing like no one thought he could. Pryor is easily the most underrated 140 pounder in the history of the game.
Pryor is nearly always ranked in the top 3 on most 140 lb lists all-time, and was ranked pretty damn high on The Ring's list in 2002 (too high in fact). How can that be underrated? He's more often overrated than underrated, with people often picking him over the great welterweights of that era because of an amateur fight or an overdramatized HBO documentary.

Pryor's speed and activity would give Mayweather fits. Pryor does leave himself open often, so that would give PBF openings to counter. Mayweather is very accurate.

On one hand, you can see Pryor's pressure and activity being too much. Mayweather hasn't been in too many competitive fights, but Castillo's pressure, size, and strength gave him problems. PBF doesn't throw that many shots, he'd rather pick his shots carefully to maximize accuracy. Pryor's activity level was outstanding, he could take a shot, and had heavy hands.

But on the other hand, who is there on Pryor's ledger that compares to Mayweather? Arguello doesn't fight that much like Mayweather, had much slower feet and hands than Floyd, and was better at lower weight classes (mainly 130) anyway. Cervantes was a great fighter, but old by the time Pryor got to him.

The rest of the guys, Johnson, Kameda, Kim, Blackmoore....are nowhere near Mayweather's level.

I would pick Pryor by decision, but not with much confidence.

              LOL.

God. What is this, is Aaron Pryror flavor of the month. Another word of mouth sensation, being placed on a pedestal by most of you, who I'm willing to bet haven't seen nothing more than a highlight reel, or maybe the Arguello fights.

I've seen plenty of Pryror fights, and while very good, he is no where near what half of you guys are making him out to be.

He was there to be hit, a lot. He was at times reckless, and overly ambitious in the ring.

              Floyd by decision.

This fight would have been a very tough fight for both of them stylistically. Pryor would have given Mayweather a lot of problems with his workrate, stamina, intensity and angles, Mayweather's counterpunching would have given Pryor fits as well, I doubt Mayweather has the power to hurt Pryor though, if Arguello couldn't do it, I doubt Mayweather can. I think Pryor outworks Mayweather to a decision but it probably could go either way.
