I got alot of respect for Chavez but i honestly feel hes past his prime, i just dont feel comfortable with him fighting with all those injuries sustained.

I think it's probably easy for most to assume that Jesus Chavez is "done" due to his age and injuries. However, has anyone on this forum taken a good hard look at his record, and studied his fights...SERIOUSLY?!?! This is a two-time Champion of the World!

In my opinion, Chavez's record of 44-4 deserves a closer look. He held two championship belts, the latter of which resulted in the tragic death of Leavander Johnson (RIP). Two of Chavez's lost fights were due to injury....one of which was to Erik Morales, which Jesus fought to the end with one arm, and the second loss (actually of his belt) was to Julio Diaz, due to a twisted knee. Watching Julio Diaz celebrate a title win after seeing Jesus twist his knee was like watching a pre-schooler scoring a first goal at a soccer game, proud but amateur. Not to mention unprofessional.

I understand that Jesus went through four major surgeries. No doubt these were probably placed in the best hands; otherwise he would not be a contender in the upcoming tournament against hard-hitting Katsidis in Austin. Jesus continues to train and train and train. I think Katsidis will bring his game, but I wouldn't underestimate Chavez.

All I can say is... if he's slurred now, he'd better watch the Earl fight and take a good long look at himself. Kats brings the hurt.
