Look, I know that Kelly could've finished Rubio off a few rounds earlier. But the guy just came off his first loss, to an all time great. He was fighting in his home town and didn't want to get caught with anything ******, and Rubio has KO power if his opponent gets sloppy. Alot of you are saying Kelly is shot.... I have never heard of a 26 year old with one loss( a UD loss mind you, not a KO) becoming shot over night. Let's keep in mind, he still STOPPED his opponent. He did get a KO in the books. It wasn't pretty, but it could have been so much worse. Am I the only one who thinks Kelly is gonna be just fine?

No, he's a young champ who just came back from a loss. A KO win over Rubio is fine.

Kelly is undefeated at MW, and a champ who beat a #1 contender by KO, what is there to criticize?

You are right. People are like ****ing vultures around here man, picking at whatever they can.

Kelly did pretty good, and Rubio never stood a chance. I don't think Pavlik looked as bad as some make out, but you know how it goes. Everything here gets overblown. There's a thread and a poll here somewhere. People are rating him a C class fighter? I just find that weird.

He looked exactly the same pretty much he did before losing to Hopkins...which is fine I guess, but I was looking for some improvement. It was kind of there, but not really. He could have looked a lot worse though.

He did worse than that. He made him cry and then quit. I also agree that he was bein' careful. Maybe more than he needed to, but as they say : "Discretion is the better part of valor"... It was a fine comeback-from-a-schooling win. Let's see Pavlik/Sturm or Pavlik/Abraham or (hopefully) Pavlik/Williams!!

How quickly people forget he dethroned a guy who beat Hopkins twice, TWICE. Granted he lost to Hopkins, but if you can beat the guy who dethroned him, in consecutive fights, one by KO, that automatically makes you damn good, if not elite. And those saying he doesn't look the same, no ****, he just took his first professional loss. He isn't supposed to look the same, ******s. That's why it's a comeback fight, so he can get his feet wet again and hopefully fight a big name later in the year when his confidence is back.

It is what it is.. If he takes the Calzage band wagon then he deserves it . If he proves the critics wrong than they will come around. I myself am one of the critics. If he sarts beating top echelon guys, than my view may change also. So far the and opposition don't hold much value.

I was never one to put a great deal of stock in triangle theory, but yeah, there is definitely something to be said for beating Taylor. JT is a pretty solid fighter and no pushover.

I only wish Kelly would get himself a better trainer, because it's difficult to see him improving much more under Jack Loew. Even bringing in a co-trainer might be a good idea, because Loew doesn't seem to do much except rant "double the ****ing jab" between every round. Kelly has pretty much come this far by himself, as far as I'm concerned, but he's at a point now where some fresh input might be beneficial.

Kelly should go see Hopkins and train with him. There probably is no beter teacher than the man who beat him and exposed his weaknesses.
