Welterweight Division not as hot as it was just months ago.

Think about whats happened in the last couple of months to the division that was on fire not to long ago.

Margarito - Was beaten, and exposed as a cheater (the degree to which he cheated in the past is unknown)

Cotto - Was beaten by Margarito, and though Margario may have cheated it still takes a toll on how Cotto is viewed.

Mosley - Hasn't suffered any sort of defeat, but time isnt on his side, not good to have a guy holding down one of the top 3 spots in your division so high in age.

Williams - Moved out of the division for atleast 3 fights (counting Wright). He says he can return to the weight easily, but who knows.

Cintron - Went to 154 and was exposed badly as not only mentally weak, but also just generally being a *****.

Berto - Got taken to the limit by a very good Collazo. Berto was supposed to be one of the guys that was the future of the division, and the future has temporarily been delayed.

Judah - Says he wants to move back down to 140. He wasn't top 5 anymore, but was still a name fighter.

Clottey - Been jerked around by other top fighters, who have decided to look elsewhere for a fight and has been inactive for over six months now.

Now don't get me wrong its still easily a top 5 division in boxing today, but it has certainly suffered some serious setbacks in just a short time.

I thought 147 has been slipping for a while, but it is even more apparent now. Berto is the only real up and commer in the division, everyone else is at their peak (or atleast close), on the other side of their peak, or left the division .

Both 140 and 154 have many more prospects and young fighters comming up.

Well it's more interesting if Pacquiao and Mayweather return to the division and the matchs up that need to be made are.

It's cooled off, but still some good fights there.

Actually thought about mentioning Pacquiao only "teasing" the division, and then jumping back down to 140.

Mayweather is a definite wild card atleast in the short term.
