Cotto's Fifth Vacated Title, What's Next?

What people fail to realize is that the only TRUE titles out there are The Ring Magazine titles. All there is to it.

Right now, 10 of their titles are vacant. Simple as that. Which means, eventually someone will win these titles, and it'll be vacant title. Won't make it mean less.

It's just the nature of the beast. The fact that anyone would care how Cotto won the WBO title is pretty ridiculous. He won it to have the trinket for the negotiation process. That's all.

Get over it, really.

Ring has its flaws too. Who can totally respect a belt when they never enforce you to fight. You can beat bums your whole career and keep that title, thats not cool.

Yes the WBO belt he holds now is as paper as it gets. His two other belts were validated by what he did before and after he got the belts.

That's the way it should be, however. You shouldn't be forced to fight, because a boxer has the right to map out his own future. If he defends his title against dumbs, than that's the legacy he leaves behind.

I've seen HUNDREDS of forced fights from the likes of the WBC and IBF, never been pleased with virtually more than 10 percent of them.

You should be able to fight whoever you want, it's your legacy. And if you win the title, it's really just something you should use to help build or discredit your resume/legacy.
