Sure the casual fans are attracted to the names but it's the hardcore ones who keep the sport alive. These are the fights we want to see - take a look around.
I wanted to see it too. All I'm saying is that it wouldn't necessarily have been good for the long term health of the division or for Dawson's career. I didn't mean that was his motive, I think the reasons he gave were genuine.

That's possible. But it's also possible that Calzaghe convincingly beats him and sets up a huge finale against whoever he feels like, whether its Hopkins or whoever. Or maybe it is controversial like Lewis-Klitschko but Dawson doesn't retire for years and become a part-time fighter. Or maybe Dawson wins? I don't know but there are quite a few good things that could come out of it too.

I agree. I was just pointing out that some of the possible permutations would be negative. As it is, Dawson has the chance to really dominate the division now, and I wish him the best.

what the hell? are you trying to downplay lennox's legacy?

he is an all time great heavyweight
the way you played that out was as if he just passes as a hall of famer

not sure why ray or haglers reseme qaulifies as being better than lennox's honestly

Why i think he'll come back? Cos even when he retired, he said "never say never". Right now, Dawson isnt big money but if he lives up to all the hype/ expectations, he could be near the top of the P4P soon. That might bring Joe back.

Lewis was way behind on points and it could be argued that Vitali would have been favourite in a rematch.

how can joe be ranked the same as lewis? he didn't even get the #1 pound for pound rank in today's standard? he is second only to the PACMAN. how can he be ranked that high? the padded record record is getting WWWAAAAYYYY over his head. im glad the ones that do the rankings are clear minded people not fanboys.

Fighting Hopkins and Jones were not only easier fights for Calzaghe and both older then him, but he also made more money against them then he would against Dawson who i feel would have beaten him.
                      Hopkins easier than Chad? lol
