  • Joe Calzaghe Felt Chad Dawson Wasn't Ready Yet

During a recent interview, Joe Calzaghe gave his reason for walking away from the sport and announcing his retirement - before taking a fight with IBF light heavyweight champion Chad Dawson, who many saw as the number-one contender to Calzaghe's throne. He felt Dawson was not yet a big enough star to make the fight. The money wasn't there for a fight with Dawson, and Calzaghe wasn't willing to wait around for the money to develop. He wanted to go out on top without a loss on his record. [details]

Calzaghe"peeleft: is a fraud. He's got his head up his own ass. He forgot how his whole career was an absolute Frank Warren set up. Even he didn't believe in himself till a few years ago. Didn't he have to postpone his fight with Lacy because of panic attacks? What a senior citizen fighting joke with a padded record!

Joe said absolutely nothing inflammatory there, still some haterjuice up in here. lol

I wanted Joe to fight Dawson, but no one can say he had to. Dawson is very much on the way up. He hasn't arrived yet.

Say what you want ...He didnt want to fight Chad. To much of a legitimate risk fight. Would of jeopardized that 0 on his record. Thats what more important to Joe.
