Do "loaded" gloves effect punch output, strength of chin, and stamina?

When i look back, i see that Margarito has never shown that kind of power before. I remember back when he fought Antonio Diaz and fought to 10th round war with him and Diaz was getting hit at will, and this is the same Diaz that Mosley blew away in about 5 or 6 rounds. If Margarito punched like he did against Cotto, he would have knocked Diaz out a lot sooner than what he did. I also remember how Clottey was giving Margarito a boxing and body punching lesson for half of the fight and that's another one where Margarito didn't show any power. It seems like his power just increased in his second fight with Cintron. I seriously wonder how long he has had those plaster of Paris bats in his gloves.

It doesn't affect your chin, but it can affect stamina.

Part of guys getting tired is the relaxation factor. James Toney looks like he doesn't do any roadwork, but he's relaxed in the ring, and can generally go a strong 12. De La Hoya looks tense in the ring, and even in fights in which he probably trained extremely hard (Trinidad), he's had stamina problems. Of course there's the natural effect, some guys are just born with better stamina, but being relaxed helps.

If you know your gloves are loaded, then you can relax more when you punch. You don't have to put as much into it. You know the damage will build up.

And of course, there's the guy getting hit by it. A guy getting hit with loaded gloves, especially to the body, is going to get tired quicker than someone getting hit with regular gloves in those places. There's also the relaxation factor for that guy. It's a mental thing like "OH ****, THOSE PUNCHES ARE HARD!! and also changes fight strategy in which the guy may use his legs more to avoid these punches. Using legs gets you tired.

Lots of factors to come into play.

But we'll most likely never know when it comes to Margarito and fights pre-Mosley.

As for the question, loaded gloves does not actually increase your stamina and chin but it does give you the confidence to take a better punch. I think when he had those bats in gloves, it gave him the confidence to take the punches better because he knew that as soon as he landed with one of those rocks, its gonna do a lot more damage that what you're doing to him and when Mosley just totally negated his offensive and didn't let him get off, he was still cold and had no confidence.

Mosley exposed Margarito... That chin was anything but granite.
Truly one of the worst posts I've ever seen here.

true, Cotto said many times he couldn't find an opening, Margs output was crazy that night, of course knowing he was loaded gave him huge confidence.

On the records, sure. But we all know its a little more complicated than that.
There were blood stains on the illegal material, they were used before. What was Margarito's last fight before Mosley? Cotto.
If those gloves were loaded, Cotto should be commended for fighting like a war hero.

Indeed, I completely agree. It is easy to look like a world beater when your opponent is falling apart because they are getting hit harder and taking more punishment then they should. Also the fighter with loaded gloves should get a mental edge as the fight goes on seeing the effect their punches are having on his opponent, while the other fighter falls into dispare and they always say boxing is 80-90% mental.

No one will ever know what was going on with Margarito's wraps before the Mosley fight (most likely), all it does is raise questions and put his whole career in a rather unsavory light.
