Jack Johnson, Cassius Clay or perhaps Max Schmeling (because he hailed from ****-Germany).
Schmeling was disliked while he was champion, not because of where he was from, but because he had won the title on a disqualification. People thought he exaggerated the effects of the low blow.
He actually became popular when losing the title in a rematch against Sharkey because the majority thought he had been robbed of the decision.
It was not until the late 1930's that he became a representative of **** Germany.
I agree. I never liked Ali as a person. Great fighter but a complete prick IMO.
Big George wasn't exactly a charming personality either when he first won the title.
Apparently george foreman wasnt liked because his lack of charisma, and the people wanted Ali
Saying that Wlad and valuev arent exactly adored
NOTE: im not asking who was the worst champ, but the most disliked by the public
Maybe in Zaire.Elsewhere all over the globe the public were in absolute awe of him.His reign was a bit like Tyson's but even shorter.
I would say Sonny Liston or Jack Johnson were the most unpopular champions. This was not necessarily any fault of theirs.
You could include Ali in the 60s,when he was spouting the NOI ideology. This was of course later counterbalanced by his popularity among progressive sections for opposing the Vietnam War.
