how does that conflict with what i was saying?

the thread title says that the arum-cotto relationship is on the brink.

cotto says that he'll finish his contract and look at his options. That doesn't sound like "on the brink" to me. Funny how you bolded the part that fit your argument but forgot the second part of the quote. the dividing of the quote in that way obviously is trying to read more into the situation than cotto intended. its not a misquote, but the emphasis is done to make more tension than there might really be.

I said if cotto is classy he won't break his contract, which is exactly the same thing cotto said.

A "relationship" per say is not just limited to a contractual obligation. According to quotes from Top Rank's president in that article, the relationship between Cotto and Top Rank trancends just a signed document with legal obligations.

If Cotto fullfills his contract, he then he did the classy thing and honored it. Not staying with a company that doesn't seem to have your best interests in mind AFTER honoring a written agreement is just plain smart. Nothing about that is unclassy.

are you saying that cotto can break his contract and remain classy at the same time???

here's situations in which I would say cotto would be right in breaking the contract:
          1) arum cheats cotto out of money
          2) arum cheats cotto out of a victory by bribing the ref, judges, or officials
          3) arum puts cotto on a shelf and doesnt get him fights
          4) any breaking of the contract on arum's part

the current situation is total opposite of these scenarios (as far as we can tell). basically all arum has done is promote his other fighter (albeit a cheater). I'm guessing that nothing in cotto's contract says that arum can't promote margarito, or more specifically can't talk about margarito.

for cotto to bail on his contract because arum has a difference of opinion is unclassy.

also, since when did talk of margarito fighting in mexico constitute not having cotto's best interest in mind???

why is promoting margarito equate to not having cotto's best interest in mind???
