What would a move to Golden Boy do for Miguel Cotto?

With the discussions of him leaving Top Rank, there may be a possibility for him to sign with a new promoter. I think Golden Boy promotions would be a huge possibility unless of course he plans to start his own promotional company. How would a move to GBP benefit Miguel, GBP and the fans?

He will get to fight whoever he wants instead of settling for Arums bull****. he will get more money, because the plan is to co-promote with his Promociones Miguel Cotto and GBP. Plus it will be a fresh start for Cotto and is team. We the fans dont benefit in any shape or form!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think GBP, with their ties to HBO, are better for an already established name. Top Rank does a great job bringing fighters up, but I feel like now that Cotto is already established, a move to GBP would open things up. They don't have the feuds and bad blood with other people in the business like Arum does.

It could get him Shane Mosley again and even quite possibly a Floyd Mayweather bout if Mayweather returns.

Yeah I was thinking something similar. Easier to make that fight without Arum.

But I think he may lose the fight with Pacquaio seeing how Arum is a bit spiteful at times.

I don't think it does all that much. I mean I think he is an already attractive opponent for the other WW's out their. The only difference is a very very slight increase in the possibility of PBF. But then again I think it also makes Pac a slightly less likely scenario.

The guy I really really really want to see go to a new promoter is Nonito Donaire. It's a damn shame that a guy with his exciting fan friendly style and credentials isn't more active and getting bigger fights.

Yup I agree with you there. If Cotto buys out of his contract there is no way in hell he fights Pac. That's why I feel like Arum is going to do everything his power to make that fight happen.

This is very true. Although I really do not think he will get Pac anyways. I know Arum is talking about it but I doubt it becomes a reality.

Arum seems quick to talk about it now that he feels he may be losing Cotto; perhaps waving them dollars in Miguel's face.
