    Instant replay in boxing

During the Cintron-Martinez fight we saw numerous examples of where instant replay could have saved a wrong call. Now, I know that it's not possible to institute the rule across all of boxing, but can't there be some rule that allows instant replay for fouls, knockdowns, slips, etc. It seems to make sense in boxing since a bad call in boxing CAN actually lose a fight and/or a title. Maybe start with just championship fights for starters, I don't know.

What do you guys think? Does Instant Replay have a place in boxing? Is it even possible? If it is possible how should the rules be set?

    Only in certain situations.

For instance, if they're trying to figure out if a cut was caused by a clash of heads or a punch.

If it can be done within the round breaks then im all for it…im not down for a 15minute delay ala football

But it certainly would help…as some have mentioned, for clash of heads and to verify legit KDs

Dude he was up, the reff was at the count of 9 and his knees and hands were off the ground. It was a good call.

Agreed. Red flags? How would it work?

Not necessarily…take the Martinez vs ***** match last week…the ref can go ahead and make an instant judgment call but as soon as the round ends, he can walk over to a tv and watch the replay to verify…once he gets his conclusion, he walks over to the judges and tells them the ruling

The ref called the fight, am I right? Doesn't that mean the fights over? You're right his knee was up, but the ref didn't know that, he counted him out and the fight was over. Either way, if they had instant replay it could be taken care of.

Sounds good to me. I love that you call Cintron "*****", no one word better describes him.

And you know they can implement this whenever they want…all it would take is an ‘ok’ from whatever state commission is sanctioning the bout..i mean, for the big fights which HBO or Showtime carry, the equipment and various camera angles are already there…what’s an extra monitor for the official? Nothing…it would definitely be a benefit for the sport
