Deciding Factors for Pacquiao/Hatton Official Thread.

i can't make my mind on this fight. can go for either side

the only deciding factors that matter:

1) hatton's grappling skills (if hatton is allowed to maul pac, it's over for pac)

2) pac's speed and power (pac has to nail hatton hard before hatton can clinch, rinse and repeat)

3) the referee (whether or not he does his job may swing the bout one way or another)

i think hatton will surprise a few people in this fight.hatton is good at not letting fighters get into there rhythm and its vital he doesnt let pacman settle down early.hatton has 2 be smart aswell and not take to many shots and waste to many punches.when he does connect he will back manny and up punish him in my opinion.hatton has brutal power

I suppose for Pacquiao the #1 money punch will be the straight left. What will it be for Hatton? I expect to see a ton of straight lefts from Pacquiao. Hooks to the body from Ricky?

Pac's footwork (in-and-out and lateral) and foot speed are very important factors in this fight. That combined with his upper body and head movement as well as his fast and active hands in combination punching, counter punching and blocking, makes Pac very hard to hit these days and should negate most of his opponent's efforts to get in close because they will be either be eating a lot of leather going in or won't find anyone home. The double jab and feinting would be vital for Pac as well. Of course there's his lightning fast and powerful left straight (lead or set up with jabs or feints) which is his main weapon.

He's not feather-fisted and with his high work rate, the damage accumulates over time to the body and head so that his opponents tend to slow down by the halfway mark (looking washed up or shot) making them more and more vulnerable and going into a defensive mode until they're finally ready to be taken out. Sometimes early in the fight he can land a stunning blow and he'll be on that mofo like a shark smelling blood and going for the kill. If need be however, he's got the stamina to maintain a very torrid pace for 12 grueling rounds.

I think Pacquiao's agility is a major factor.. The main post is turning into the stuff that used to be written on the back of Marvel cards.

yes hatton struggles with southpaws, but ive seen pc look very shaky on the back foot while under pressure

Yeah that's listed on first post. I bet Hatton can take the punishment and keep his bearings, however his face will be swollen and bleeding. Mayweather didn't really accumulate too much from the beginning of his fight with Hatton so it wasn't much of a factor. It was more calculated and strong punches as supposed to a lot of medium strength punches.. which is what I think Pac will be delivering.
