Calzaghe, look how many times SRR lost.

Stop trying to hype up the old fighters so you have a reason to give no credit to the ones in this era.

If a chain smoking, womanizing booze hound in Jake Lamotta can beat Robinson, an in shape, modern fighter of Calzaghe's capabilities who has dedicated his entire life to boxing certainly can.
i think you got it the wrong way around, athletes today dont measure up to athletes of the past, it's been proven

        1. Boxers today only fight 12 rounds. Boxers in Robinsons day fought 15 round fights. So I'd say they were pretty well conditioned. Especially when they were fighting every week or so in most cases.

        2. If conditioning was the main component of a successful boxer Antonio Margarito would be unstoppable. Unfortunately, you need to have the skills to go along with extreme fitness, which is Calzaghe would not beat Robinson. He is a skilled fighter, but not skilled enough.

How you looked at his record? If I remember correctly after his first 130 fights his pro record stood at 128-1-1. Most of his losses came when he was over the hill. FFS the man had to step up to 160 from 147 because he couldn't find any more fights at WW.

            What crack are you smoking?

            Consider this:

The WOMAN'S world record in the 100 meter dash today smashes the MAN'S record in the 100 meter in 1940.

I think he was talking about boxing, which is an exception. Fights from yesteryear fought longer and more often.

EDIT: Btw I still can't believe Calzaghe is leading this poll. Insane.

Give us a break with this crap already. You must be an ALT of another nutthugger or something.

Calzaghe gives anybody in history a fight but to suggest that he's better than one of the top 3 ATG's is just foolish.

I love Calzaghe fans. The fact that this poll is even close suggests that the world is coming to an end.

Do me a favor Calzaghe fans, why don't you guys get together and write to every notable boxing expert/historian and see what they say. You might have to be ready for them to laugh in your face, but at least that way you'll know it's not just us posters setting you straight.

Calzaghe would get dismantled within 4 rounds. Ray Robinson destroys him.

Calzaghe didnt even prove himself against the best of our era, what chance has he got against the best fighter that ever fought?
