he talks down all the legends but rarely fights the best opposition that he could, people have gave him a free pass for a long long time and just got tired of him.

As for the topic at hand, Floyd generated a lot of ill will amongst fans (especially of certain fighters). I think Floyd brought a lot of it on himself, because being a "villian" (I put it in quotes because Floyd's villian thing is an act and not real) in boxing can be very lucretive, which I think in turn lead to even more ill will when he actually broke through.

He is one of the best boxers I have ever seen
