I think he could possibly come back in 2010 or 2011, but he may not be the same fighter at that point. He would still have cetain name value and his first fight back would probably be pretty big (imo), but since he is so ****y he might bite off more then he can chew in his first fight back.

If he does not fight this year, probably against the Hatton-Pacman winner, I can only see him comming back if he needs the cash.

might well be never - floyd is not a fighter who seems to love competing or love the sport of boxing hes just daaaaaamn good at it.

he satys in shape more or less all year round and if he does decide to come back late in 09 he should be fine to just go into a big money fight. if he comes in 2010 he might need a tune up to shake off the ring rust.

i dont think he'll feel compelled to come back unless he feels as though he is being underrated.

Agreed, and that's pretty much my point. When will it be too late for him to come back and still be in prime fighting shape?

IMO if he skips this year and doesn't try to comeback until mid-late 2010, it might not be the best move. One name that always comes up with big comebacks is Sugar Ray Leonard's comeback against Hagler, but Sugar Ray at that point was battle tested...and not to say Floyd can't throw with the best of him, I just don't think he's built like that to make that type of comeback from a lengthy absence...and that's not a diss towards Floyd.

Whoever he'd comeback and fight would have to be the #1 guy in the sport or no one will give him credit.

I always thought he might try to go the SRL route, but I do not see a Hagler for him to fight that is above his weight.

I would not put it past Floyd to be able to do something like that, but there is no certainty that he could do it. It would be kind of fun to see him try that though. Floyd has had some lengthy breaks from the sport before but at his age it only gets harder with everyday that passes.

I do not take it as a diss, because it is only logical that the time off would negatively effect him, because that is what it does to almost all fighters. There is always the saying great fighters always have 1 great fight left in them, maybe Floyd can call upon that (hell he could probably prove more with 1 fight like this to many people, then he did with the rest of his career).
