He was a great fighter but I don't really rank him as an ATG because of his short career, he definitely would have become an ATG if he hadn't tragically passed away, although Tengoshi brought up a good point yesterday about how Sanchez could have been affected by the change to 12 round fights which happened shortly after he died, I think he would have become an ATG even with 12 round fights though. -
I think he was great enough to simply adjust to the 12 rounds. Sad that he left us so soon. Still, I rank him an ATG, simply based upon how he looked within that short career. Top 25, for me.He was a great fighter but I don't really rank him as an ATG because of his short career, he definitely would have become an ATG if he hadn't tragically passed away, although Tengoshi brought up a good point yesterday about how Sanchez could have been affected by the change to 12 round fights which happened shortly after he died, I think he would have become an ATG even with 12 round fights though.Comment

Yeah, but I doubt he'd look as he did with 15 round fights, he probably would have had to dig himself out of early deficits which probably would have made him look much worse than he did in 15 round fights.
Longevity is a pretty big part of being an ATG IMO, Sanchez was at the top of the sport for about 2 years, there's no denying that what he accomplished during that 2 year span was exceptional though.Comment

When debating what he would have done, one has to consider his age when he died. A mere two or three more years would have given us a much more complete product as a fighter, experience is everything. Chava probably would have adapted quite well to 12 round fights.Yeah, but I doubt he'd look as he did with 15 round fights, he probably would have had to dig himself out of early deficits which probably would have made him look much worse than he did in 15 round fights.

Longevity is a big part. However, so is fighting only the best. And Roy Jones, a great fighter, didn't truly get that done. It's about all the other stuff, too. You know?Yeah, but I doubt he'd look as he did with 15 round fights, he probably would have had to dig himself out of early deficits which probably would have made him look much worse than he did in 15 round fights.
