the first time i watched Jennings fight i had never realy heard of him it probably seen was at the millenium stadium on the undercard of Calzaghe vs Manfredo, he was fighting Takaloo for some title WBU title and it was the best fight of the night he was outstanding barley even took a shot, all his goup of fans were sat several rows backk and after the fight he came and sat with them all. you wont find a more level headed down to earth bloke than this which is why when he says he feels he can beat him you have got to at least beleive he dose beleive it and thats half the battle, the rest he has, dont think he has ever been down, and the loss to young mutley i watched and i think jennings deserved the win.

Here said a few key things came out of that for me,

      1. " I am under no pressure" - I don’t strictly believe that, yes he is under no pressure to win as no one (especially the American public) give him a hope in hell, but the occasion will put pressure on him as will the arena. However he isn't under pressure to perform like Cotto is, he must stay calm.
      2. He has a reach and height advantage - if he can jab and move (a bit like Cotto was doing to Margerito until he ran out of gas) then he could frustrate Cotto for a few rounds and throw him out of his rhythm - however with that height advantage that’s more body for Cotto to break… He will need to catch Cotto early and give him something to think about, put some doubt in his mind, if he sits back and invites Cotto on he could be over in a couple of rounds.
      3. "Cotto isn't the biggest welterweight in the world" - true maybe compared to the likes of Margerito or Williams say (who have campaigned at higher weights) but this is definitely his weight class, and he is a monster.
      4. He isn't shouting his mouth off and is quietly going about his business which suggests he is (on the surface at least) has adjusted to his surroundings.

      All these sound pretty good…

However he hasn’t ever fought at this level, I wish him all the best to give a good account of himself and come back to England safe with or without the belt. He deserves respect for taking the fight. Also the talk of him not taking the Williams fight? On what evidence is that?

He has a punchers chance as I said before no one in the States gave Honneghan a chance against Curry therefore it can happen, however unlikely.

It will be interesting to see how he reacts, he has to be positive and try and put some doubt in Cotto's mind.

i'd love to see jenings take cotto's belt, and it could happen. how mentally strong is cotto going to be after throwing the towel in against margarito (plaster of paris or not). jennings could irritate cotto for a few rounds and definately get him out of his rythm... but i'm not putting money on it
