    Bernard Hopkins vs. Joe Louis

    Thread was posted up in the Boxing History forum and there was some interesting discussions. Now I'm going to post it here, but this time, with a poll. Could Hopkins outbox Joe Louis for 12 rounds and win a decision?

    I lean towards Hopkins, Joe has more than one dimension though.

      If we are talking a prime Joe Louis then there is no way Hopkins wins this.

      Louis by KO. Probably fairly early.

        Yes prime Louis in a HW fight where Hopkins comes in at like 183ish

          I'm not sure about early, but I'm positive you have the right winner. Some people just don't understand how truly great Joe Louis was.

                what era would this match be held in?
                either way Joe Louis beats him in both their eras..
                when you make match ups like these though you have to think about sports science at the time and fighting methods, glove size, etc.
                If you are gonna have the fight in this era then you have to assume that Louis would also have the same technology available to him that Hopkins does.
                If you are going to have it back in the day then you have to put the limited resources Hopkins would of had back then too.

                  Joe is definately my alltime favourite HW. I still have never seen a HW that could throw power combinations with the speed and precision that he could. And that includes Ali.

                    Louis would wear him down to eventually TKO or KO him

                    but it wouldn't be easy, Hopkins would give him a hell of an awkward night
