Who should Dawson after he beats Tarver?

To clear things up Tavoris Cloud is not Dawson's mandatory yet. Tavoris Cloud beat Julio Gonzalez for the IBF title eliminator. Clinton Woods beat Elvir Muriqi for the IBF title eliminator. Woods and Cloud will fight for a FINAL IBF title eliminator thus becoming the mandatory and a shot at Dawson.

This happens all the time in boxing. Pavlik fought Miranda to be the mandatory for Taylor's belt. Povetkin beat Chambers in a FINAL eliminator bout.

Basically Dawson is free to fight whoever he wants after he beats Tarver.

Cloud is the mandatory. Dawson has to fight him next, or be stripped. Tavoris hasn't been fighting because he's waiting for his title shot.

Woods-Muriqi was an eliminator for the IBF #2 position, which means Woods will be in the next final eliminator.

This is similar to Povetkin (mandatory) and Arreola (he won the #2 position by beating Walker).

Hopkins will fight Dawson if the money is right.

What about the situation with Chambers and Povetkin? They fought a 4-way elimination bout in which Povetkin won. If Cloud wanted to fight Dawson he would of said something by now. I heard his team wants him to fight the winner of the Murqui/Woods match.

Oh yeah your right Tunney forget my last post, but is the IBF going to enforce Dawson to fight his mandatory? Personally I wouldn't mind, it would silence any doubts that Dawson can't beat a puncher.

Normally the IBF enforces their mandatories, but they seem to made an exception this time. But Dawson has to fight Cloud next, or be stripped.

Cloud has said he'll wait for his shot against Dawson instead of taking a warm-up.

They made an exception but he has to? Are you referring to the Tarver rematch? It was in the contract that Tarver could rematch Dawson, besides former champions are allowed a rematch if they lose the title (Forest/Mora 2). But what is this exception are you talking about?

Dawson had a rematch clause in the contract with Tarver, but that contract stated he could wait until after his mandatory to rematch Tarver. He could have fought Cloud first, then Tarver, without violating the rematch clause.

The IBF granted an exception so he could fight Tarver before his mandatory, but he HAS to fight Cloud next or be stripped.

You have rematch clauses when you arnt fighting a mandatory, thats why Forrest was able to have that in his clause.
