Although I don’t agree with the Naz fan (who seems to be just winding you guys up!)
Hamed's problem for me was when he finally stepped up to legend status against MAB, he had so many yes men around him (including his trainer) he didn’t do his road work properly and didn’t develop as a fighter. As a world champion you can not fault him he had super human power in both fists for his weight, however he was always going to be found out eventually as rather than developing his boxing skills to argument with his power, he persisted with throwing shots off balance (therefore maybe not getting as much power in them as he could have done) to get him out of trouble, he had no plan B. He had more heart than I thought he would when he fought Kevin Kelley, I mean WOW what an introduction to the American public! I was sad that he never tried to really rebuild after defeat to MAB, that’s what legends are made of. Although on the flip side, he had made his money and got out with all his faculties' in tact there has to be something said for that.
I grew up in my mid to late teens with the likes of Naz but rarely watched his fights live as my Dad would refuse to pay to watch him knocking over another bum, which I don’t think is strictly true but he had a point. In my opinion Hamed is an enigma, he took the Eubank arrogance blue print to new heights which is something I find difficult to swallow, Eubank did it to put bums on seats, Hamed…well that’s his personality. A good world champion it has to be said, but a legend he isn't although is he had stayed focused to his trade he could have been as he had the the raw skills to be a superstar.
Back on topic I wish Michael Jennings luck I might put a tenner on him winning if the odds are that long!Comment
