If you ask any fighter they going to tell you they're underpaid. I love Winky, but how does he figure his unappealling fighting style, two years of inactivity, a loss his last time out, and the messed up economy equal to him deserving more then someone who he trying to be the modern day Henry Armstrong? No wonder hes been inactive so long. They cant by the negotiating table.

Who deserves what fellas?
winky's inactivity and style hurts him when it comes to the purse.

I definately agree. And fortunately for us, HBO agreed also.

50/50 sounds about right. winky has come close to anumber of other bouts vs pavlik possibly kessler, hes been negotiating hard at the table and because of that hes a fighter that not many people want to do buisness with. so it makes sense for him to take a fight against a credible opponent who isn't a titleholder at the weight and isn't as big a name as he is.

for williams the fight also makes sense, for a top tier guy his resume only really has marg and maybe phillips there. winkys a respectable name and has a bit of ring rust so is beatable and he is giving williams his biggest payday.

a win here for either fighter could lead to a big money showdown with pavlik as well who is the star attraction at MW.

If Winky somehows does defeat Williams (I dont think he will), I wonder if he'll feel hes entitled to another purse parity with someone like Pavlik.

Winky always does stuff like that correct? That is why he has been off for so long, unreasonable purse demands, he might feel he is worth it (maybe some people on his team also) but in the real world that we exist in he is not in most cases.

Against Paul Williams, Winky should have demanded a good purse, but against any real big name fighter hell no. Paul Williams is not big time yet, he is getting close (imo), but this fight should help him get there (so even if Williams felt like he was taking short money, aslong as he can win it should help his future long term earning potential).

I'm a PW fan and I'd have to say Winky probably deserves 55-45 or something. He's beaten Mosley, Tito, drawn with Taylor, did ok against Hopkins I guess. Bigger name.

PW is quite big at the moment so you can see how this fight is a good matchup in some ways. This will either shoot Winky back in the mix or help PW force some fights. But Winky loses, he's really out of it with 2 losses, and PW will lose that surge he's having right now. The loser, loses big.

nobody is interested in fighting Paul Williams, whereas Winky has fought Vargas, Mosley, Trinidad, Taylor and Hopkins.

                  Winky doesn't deserve less.

Winky should know just because you beat the man doesnt make you the man. Just because he beat the likes of Mosley, Trinidad, and drew Taylor doesnt automatically turn you into a cash cow. Mosley himself knows oh too well by beating the biggest cash cow twice DeLaHoya, only to command small purses afterwards.
