Verno Phillips. Not his twelve round war with loaded hands Margarito. Not his fight with Quintana the first time around when he was out boxed and tagged cleanly throughout. But his eight round win over the old vet. I guess its a testament to Phillips toughness that Williams would say such. Im sure many will feel otherwise.

I just got off the phone with Verno and asked him what he thought about Paul's comments. He told me they wanted to do an emergency root canal three days before the fight and that he was in excruciating pain a week before, during, and after the fight. Right up to the point where he said he had it completely pulled out after the fight. He said he went to a dentist in California and they put a temporarily cap on his tooth that broke off into his mouth piece during the fight. He told me even when he blocked a shot it hurt and effected his balance. He also said hes not through and he'll fight Paul again after Winky if everybody is still scared to. Damn, now I see why Paul said this old man was his toughest foe. According to Phillips, he was no where even at 100%. That old man is gangster!Comment
