I had finally gotten the whole interview on camera thing down by the time the night ended but Terry Trekas pulled Nate right when I was getting into the real juicy questions. I wish I had 2 more minutes with him but next time.
Luis Rivera is the man, BTW. -
Campbell is a classless guy! Next time he should train for a fight. Not only will you make weight, but you wont gas after the 4th round. The weak taunts inside the ring were embarrassing for him considering he was losing the fight. This was a terrible night for florida boxing! Refs were ******, judges were ******, fighters couldn't make weight, fighters pulled out geez what a nightmare of an event!!!! How some people had it a clear decision for nate is beyond me. 114-111 is a disgrace of a score card. I didn't know you got rounds for standing there with your hands up doing nothing but shaking your head and sticking your tongue out!Comment

I couldn't be more proud of Nate. I know for a fact that Nate did everything that he could to make weight. Again for the people that don't know what happened, and or don't know much about what it takes to prepare for a fight.. Nate was right on target up to fight week. He did everything he was suppose to, but his body just wouldn't drop the last few pounds. He'll be 37 in a couple of weeks, so his body is just changing. Anyone that knows anything about boxing knows the history of boxers that have to move up in weight as they get older.
Nate would never not prepare properly for a fight. The fact that he sat in a sauna the last 2 days before the fight, and only lose a half pound shows that there wasn't anymore weight to lose.
As to people that say that he had an advantage by being a few pounds heavier I'd like them to think about how they would feel after being in a sauna for several hours before having to fight. Do you think you would be energized? I know I wouldn't.
I know that if Nate felt 100% he would have been able to finish Funeka off.
I have even more respect for him than I ever did before. Most boxers wouldn't of been able to go the distance under the same circumstances.
Great interview Ryan.
Yes Nate's wife was more than ready to leave. It was almost 2:30am by that time.
I was trying to keep her distracted while you were talking to him! LOL
Nate is going to be awesome at 140. Mark my words!

Damn it Soupy!!!
Well Saturday was interesting....I'm going to post a quote that a well-known boxing scribe said about Soupy today......This quote pretty much describes Soupy whole career now and forever.
I don't think there's any doubt that Campbell tried to make weight. The reality is that he is a fighter whose market value is dependent on having these belts and being able to defend them. Now, moving up to 140, Campbell is once again just another tough guy who may have problems getting the marquee names to face him. While he may have been forced to move up in weight, his money goes down for the foreseeable future. But regardless, isn't it a bit ironic that Campbell failed to make weight in the very next fight post-Joan Guzman? What do they say about glass houses?
I said that if Soupy wins, the fix was in.....check my post history if you don't believe that I made this statement. The judges and refs on Saturday were beyond unbelievable. Soupy won 3 rounds.....THAT IT!!!
Soupy, I'm telling you this as someone who is concern for your health.....RETIRE!!!!!....Ortiz, Holt, Bradley, Peterson, Arnatous, Alexander, Alvarado, Urango, Torres, Kotenik those boys will hurt you and hurt you badly.
Soupy, do you really think that you can beat those boys by throwing one "an overhand right" per round and then gassing out mid-fight? they will eat you alive. I left Hatton and Pacquiao off the list because they have better things to do then to fight you. If for some crazy reason (they will never fight you because you are beltless & bankrupt and bring nothing to the table) those two do fight you.....base on Saturday performance, they will dismember you and scatter your ashes on the front lawn of their houses in their respective countries.
Funeka was having his way...outbox you from a distance. Of course he was your toughest fight, because he beat you that why. I remember watching the six round where you couldn't even breathe and instead of switching up your tactics.....you kept trying that same overhand right? Why do you even pay Jackson for? he licks nuts as a trainer.
Funeka chin is made of porcelain or he would have beat you soundly, but I don't have nothing to worry about....the 140 lber (aka the under 30 years of age boys) will show you your exit and then and only then will you hang up your gloves and then try to figure out why you will never be in the boxing hall of fame.
So now what Soupy, more press releases, more blog...well since you are doing this, first start off by apologizing to Joan Guzman and then say you lost Saturday night....and finally admit that without belts, you bring nothing to the table and at 140....you will be a journeymen.
140 is not for the weak-welled person like you Soupy....get a new conditioning coach, learn some damn discipline and get your a$$ back down to 135 before you get hurt.
Jesus H. Christ, I'm begging Soupy, please don't go to 140.....those boys don't hit like Peden......they will knock your head inComment
