Now, I'm not the type to bring race into things to try and start some racist bull****. It's pointless, for the most part and it's just not that interesting to me. However, I have a point to prove.
Sergio Martinez last night... did what he wanted. He outboxed him, outslugged him, landing more of EVERY kind of punch and actually landed the HARDER power shots. Cut him and knocked him down with a punch so thunderous that Cintron himself COULDN'T believe it was a punch. Thought it was a headbutt.
Martinez didn't look INCREDIBLE, like he did against the much less talented Bunema, but he was respectful of Cintron's power. Understandable. Yet, he still took the chances, controlled the pace and put rounds in the bank. He clearly won the fight, to me.
EVIDENCE:
My personal scorecard:
Cintron won rounds 1 and 2. Martinez won 3 thru 9, winning the 7th by two points for knocing him (out) down. Cintron won the 10th, but it was close. The 11th was Martinez' and the 12th, I had it 9-9 because Martinez won the round, but lost a point.
My score, 116-110, MARTINEZ.
Ledderman, the unofficial judge and most of the other media have it for Martinez.
Miami, which has WAY more Puerto Ricans then it does Argentine's boo the decision AND Cintron when he tries to celebrate.
Now, AFTER BEING SO SUCCESSFUL AT 154, wants to move back down. Because that's what you do when you feel you win a big fight at a new weight.
The WINNER: SERGIO 'MUTHA****IN' MARTINEZ.
Now, when Luis Collazo battled in a close fight with Andre Berto, SOME Puerto Ricans acted as if you might as well have set their children on fire. I'd LOVE for those same Puerto Ricans to come out and say Cintron got lucky and was a ***** for acting as if he won that fight.
Not trying to start ANYTHING racist, but I call 'em like I see 'em.
