    Lightweight division

    So the lightweight division is now wide open with 3 titles being vacant and Nate Campbell moving up in weight. Not to mention Manny pacquiao will probably announce hes vacating his wbc strap. I ask you;

    1) whos gonna step up to each title?

    WBC rankings as follows (1-10)

    Edwin Valero (Venezuela)
    #
    Antonio Pitalua (Colombia)
    #
    Urbano Antillon (US)
    #
    Anthony Peterson (US) NABF
    #
    Antonio Demarco (Mexico)
    #
    Joan Guzman (Dom R)
    #
    David Diaz (US)
    #
    Julio Cesar Diaz (US)
    #
    Juan Diaz (US)
    #
    Vicente Escobedo (Mexico)

WBA rankings, although i think Paul Moses will now take this title?

    1. Vacant
    2. JOAN GUZMAN (LAC) D.R.
    3. EDWIN VALERO VEN
    4. MARCO ANTONIO BARRERA MEX
    5. JUAN MANUEL MARQUEZ MEX
    6. JUAN DIAZ USA
    7. YURI ROMANOV BEL
    8. MIGUEL ACOSTA VEN
    9. JOSE ALFARO NIC
    10. ALI FUNEKA S.A.

    IBF Rankings

    1 Ali Funeka South Africa
    2 NOT RATED
    3 Juan Diaz United States
    4 Fernando Angulo Venezuela
    5 Julio Diaz United States
    6 Anthony Peterson United States
    7 Zahir Raheem United States
    8 Yuri Romanov Belarus
    9 Yodsanan Nanthachai Thailand
    10 Michael Katsidis Australia

    WBO Rankings

    1 Marco Antonio Barrera MEX
    2 Juan Manuel Marquez MEX
    3 Juan Diaz USA
    4 Anthony Peterson USA
    5 Ali Funeka SA
    6 Michael Katsidis AUST
    7 Breidis Prescott (Int-Cont) COL
    8 Joan Guzman DR
    9 Amir Khan GB
    10 Jorge Barrios ARG

    2) How long will it be til we see a unified Lightweight division?

    3) Does it even matter who holds a title because Juan Manuel Marquez is the true lightweight champion?

    4) How the hell did Marco Antonio Barrera become so highley ranked in the WBA and WBO rankinfs?

Edwin valero is fighting for the WBC interim strap so i suppose that will make him the legitimate champion if pacquiao vacates.

Well I think Valero-Pitalua is already scheduled for the WBC strap. I think the WBA will go to Moses or atleast he will be in the fight for that belt. I think that Funeka will most likely fight for the IBF belt (hard to see him falling out of the #1 spot consider how close the fight was and that Nate did not make weight). The WBO will probably end up around the waist of the winner of Barrera Khan (disgusting I know, but with all the belts vacent if only 1 fight is unworthy I will consider it good enough)

jmm will be recognized as the undisputed lightweight champ now that campbell has moved up.

any number of dudes will grab a belt but it doesnt even matter.

only the flipside i think its good because we'll see the likes of valero really come to thefore and we'll see what hes made of.

im not a big fan of these rankings but the LW division has shown that it can make big fights (diaz-katsidis, JMM-casamayor, campbell-guzman) theres plenty of quality fighters in there and i heard that they're going to have a LW tournament soon.

me thinks JMM will unify the division before moving up and taking on pacman one more time.
