In Cosme's defense of not finishing Berto, the knockdown happened at the end of the round with the ref giving the slowest standing 8 count i have ever seen...then Berto got 2 and a half min of recovery between the rounds.

But yea Cotto is a level above Berto.

Two totally different situations. Vargas was very young only 22years old when he fought Tito. Berto is already 25 and will be 26 this summer (when the fight will happen).

Its pretty much the step-up the competition time for Berto and most fighters unless your a Brit with Frank Warren then they usually wait till about 40 fights into their careers.

And we could say if DeMarcus Corley badly rocked Miguel Cotto, or if Ricardo Torres badly wobbled Miguel Cotto numerous times. Or if Lovemore N'dou won 4 or 5 rounds against Miguel Cotto. That Andre Berto could beat Miguel Cotto based on those 3 fights.

But infact it means jack**** just like Andre Berto vs Cosme Rivera does. Andre Berto has improved since then he has a snappy left jab, better defense, lighting handspeed, good power, good chin, good stamina.

All in all this would be the best figher Miguel Cotto has fought, except for Shane Mosley that has that many good attributes. Yes Andre Berto is still green and has some flaws.

But so does Miguel Cotto he is still wide open for the uppercut, which is Andre Berto's best weapon. I can't see how anyone wouldn't think this would be competitive.

Miguel Cotto has sometimes faded down the stretch and Andre Berto has shown, he can fight at a hard pace for 12 rounds. He could also beat Miguel Cotto to the jab with his quicker hand speed. Overall i see a good solid competitive fight if it happens.
