He's gotta have a ****ty trainer and or dietist (if he got 1) who didnt control his weight carefully for a fight.
To lose only 0.5 lbs in 2 hr(the grace period he was given) is just ridiculous. at least go to the washroom, sauna, that should take care of a lot.

He was in Bally's gym for 4 hours the day before and lost a 1/2 pound.

His age and body caught up to him.

It wasn't from lack of effort.

Muscle and bones get heavier after 35 and it caught up to him.

you shouldn't try to lose a lot of weight the day before, it should be done gradually
well, other old boxers managed to do it, he's not the first "old" boxer in history. We've seen a lot of older boxers lately that fought and made the wieght, dunno whats so special with this guy

Most fighters move up in weight during the later part of the career for this exact reason.

                  Every person is different physically.

He just couldn't make it anymore. Many old boxers move up because they can't make weight anymore.

That is not a new phenomenon.
This was the event that let him know he absolutely has to.
If you look at him, he trained like a beast.

He no longer fights at middleweight. Like the guy above me said, everyone is different. For some it's later than others.
