I don't see what the rush is with his management to get him into a title fight. He won't have any trouble get TV dates because flawed or not he's fun to watch fight. He's got a FNF date next week and a ShoBox date in mid-April. Add the fact that the WBC champion at 126 is shopworn, but durable Oscar Larios and I say, what's the rush?
Larios will still be there at the end of the year and Gamboa will still be a 27 year old former Olympic gold medallist. The only difference is that by the end of the year Gamboa will be more experienced and Larios will just be older and probably more shopworn. Plus, it's not like there are huge exciting unification matches out there for Gamboa at 126. The only titlist with any real US profile at 126 is Steve Luevano and I know Gamboa's people aren't trying to take on the task of selling that fight to HBO or Showtime.
