Holyfield to me has always been kind of overrated. He touts his 4 time world heavyweight champion statistic like it's something special. To me it says, you were never consistent enough to hold onto the title and defend it x amount of times. Consider some of these statistics:

    Winning percentage: 78%

    KO percentage: 64%

Notable losses to less than stellar hws: Nicolay Valuev, Sultan Ibragimov, James Toney, Larry Donald, Chris Byrd

    Total 42 wins, 2 draws, 10 losses

So, to me, he's not p4p material...

First off... Holyfield was about 60 when he fought Toney and Imbragimov. He beat Valuev so that's not a valid point.

What a true champ Holyfield is. A complete legend, I wish we had another heavyweight like that now to show Wlad how to really fight.

What about the fact that Holyfield was never able to hold onto the world title and defend it several times?

Meh, when you come into a title fight weighing 205 and your (good) opponent weighs 235 and you still go toe to toe with him producing some of the finest moments in boxing ever seen but loose out on a decision... you deserve the credit for a war. Coming back to snatch the title is just beyond the call of duty. Holyfield is underrated imo.

Don't forget he started as a 25-1 underdog against Tyson when he took the WBA belt in 99' as well. He pounded him and stopped him. Yes I know Buster Douglas did that too but Holyfield showed him how to really box.
