and to think Salvador Sanchez took this guy's shots! DAMN
Keep in mind that he only had 13 professional fights at the time. A more experienced Nelson might have been able to get the job done, almost certainly the greatest fighter ever out of Africa.
nah, Im actually a mix of Irish, German and Russian I believe. probebly others in there somewhere. all whitey blood in me though.
its just a goofy nickname I picked up in Middleschool because I hung out with all black/hispanic kids. they were surprised I was Irish because Ive always had a pretty dark tan. I used it as my instant messenger name years ago, and I continue to use it because its easy to remember now and not very generic either.

Great highlight tribute for a legend.
Azumah also took the fight on about 2 weeks notice.
the fact that he did so well in the fight is crazy. talk about a step up in class, and talk about a coming out party for him. It may have been a loss, but considering how well he did in it its practically a win for him. Hell, I think one of the judges had him ahead going into the 15th round.

Very nice video. A shame it's so hard to get some of his tough defenses against solid opposition: Suarez, Villasana, etc.
BTW, I think one of the judges did as well. One thing's for sure, most ringsiders had Nelson ahead going into the final round including the announcers. 13 fights on eight days notice against a Hall of Famer who never fought again speaks for itself.
