The best fighters with the worst records?

What fighters have you seen with the worst looking records(as in they have a lot of losses) but were still very good?

Glen Johnson pretty quickly comes to mind, because most of his losses have been controversial.

Ive always thought Juan LaPorte was one of these guys too, he was a very good puncher who gave lots of greats trouble, but often just wasnt complete enough to pull off the win in some fights. most of his losses came to very talented fighters, like Sal Sanchez, JCC, Azumah Nelson, Wilfredo Gomez, Pedroza, etc.

probebly the best example I can come up with is Freddie Pendleton. its rare youll find a title holder with a an uglier record, he would have as many losses as he did wins at times...but he was really good. Im not sure what it was, bad matchmaking, bad training routines, bad management, Im not sure. but he could really punch and would always give a tough fight no matter who he was in with. he even gave Whitaker a little more trouble than usual.

    got any more?

Iran Barkley. I know he wasn't that great, but he has two wins over Hearns. He fought Duran, Benn, Nunn, Kinchen, Olajide etc. But his record it's ugly.

Dwight Muhammad Qawi and Matthew Saad Muhammad could both be in this discussion.

Not when over half of them happened when he was past 40 years old.

I agree that it doesn't look too good but his record at the time he first retired was one of the best with 131 wins and only 3 losses.

We are talking about fighters who barely have as many wins as they have losses yet were still vey good...
