ATG fighters would realize money is not everything in a contract imo (atg fighters have atg lawyers and managers usually to look after such things). If you offer someone 8 million but the contract has ****ed up things you do not want to argree even for the money, it is understandable why they turned it down.
You have not seen that contract or were in the room for those negotiations so you know no more then I do, all you are doing is making assumptions and value judgements on things you really know nothing about.

Floyd already left some money behind when he refuse to fight De La hoya. He must feel he has a better chance against Pacman, because he can match speeds with him. mosley would represent a bigger threat to him. Plus Mosley came fresh out of his last fight. Floyd rather fight fighters that have been through hell before they face him. Like Judah and Gatti.

Sugar Ray Leonard managed himself. No ATGs lawyers/managers there, but he still ended up beating 4 ATGs.

I haven't seen the contract? Is that the latest excuse for avoiding somebody in the ring? We didn't see the contract so its understandable why he didn't take the (then) biggest payday of his career? I'm not saying Margarito would beat Mayweather (slim chance imo), but at the time, Mayweather saw him as a threat and therefore didn't fight him. I can see no other reason.

And to answer the common retort 'He's not a natural welterweight.' True, he's not. But why tell anyone who'll listen you'll beat anyone 154 and under?! Kind of shooting yourself in the foot

The main reason fights do not take place, is money, now the next biggerst reason a fight would not happean is other resons in the contract.

Lets say in the contract that Arum got 50% of Mayweather future earning, including the 8 million~, Floyd wanted to leave Arum at the time so what if there was a 5 year contract extrension. Offering someone an $8 million contract in the press, and saying no other details is not a real legit offer, unless you know the other facts of the contract (or happeaned to be in on the negotiations). Sometimes it is best to turn down a big money offer if you feel the contract is ****ing you in other ways. Point blank, you do not know why Mayweather_Margarito did not come off, so anything you say about it is an assumption, then you judge Floyd's values based on your assumptions (thanks for proving my point in my previous post on this thread).

SRL had a whole ****ing team of people on his side btw, he might have managed himself to save a little cash but he still had paid advisers.

                1. First off, I am making an assumption. I never claimed my opinion was a fact. My point was that if you turn down your biggest payday without giving a legit reason, it looks very su****ious. You keep mentioning the contract. Do you have some inside knowledge that I don't? If not, stop making assumptions yourself. Mayweather never went public and said anything of the sort. His excuse was: the boxing fans don't know who Margarito is and we're not fighting to prove who the best is.

                2. After Leonard's first fight, he looked after himself. He used the winnings from his first pro win to pay off his promoters/managers. Watch Beyond the Glory: SRL, he talks about it a lot. He's even trying to help young boxers these days because he feels boxing his being ruined by corrupt managers/promoters etc

                  1. At the time he was right, Margarito was pretty much a nobody, that was only really well know by people that read Maxboxing.com at that point. You brought up the 8 million offer, when you have no clue as to the other stipulation invovled in getting that money. Since a contract contains more then just how much you will get paid, do you really think that Arum who made the offer though the press (which is not a nogiating tatic you use when you really want somethign to come about. Real negotiations are handled behind closed doors, which I why I view that offer as MEANINGLESS).

                  2. He still had a few lawyers that looked over everything. Leonard ran his own career, but he did have people looking after him making sure he did not sign anything messed up. Also Sugar Ray Leonard is not some paragon of virtue, he did a lot of picking and choosing (after the eye injury anyways)
