After Shane Mosley pulled off the performance of a lifetime by knocking out Antonio Margarito on January 24, Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer would quickly state that he was planning to speak with the team of Floyd Mayweather Jr. to explore the possibility of a Mayweather-Mosley bout. Mayweather has been retired since mid-2008, but a month ago his adviser, Leonard Ellerbe, said Floyd had directed him to review potential fight offers. [details]I'm a fan of Floyd 2nd only to Pac...i'm impressed of Floyd's talent ever since i've followed his boxing carreer...the champions he destroyed were very good fighters the likes of Diego Corrales, Castillo, Gatti, Chavez, Mitchell, Baldomir, Hernandez, Hatton, Judah, etc.
But, the biggest name w/c match him at the highest level was Oscar (he beats at age 34, a 6 time Division Champion) still questionable 'cause of his age but remember Oscar's leading in the first half & lost by a split decision...if he really has the balls to compete w/ such fighters at the highest level synonym to his name, i believe his still at his best & not yet on the retiring age & lots of opposition waiting on the list to challenge him at the elite level, the likes of Shane Mosley(w/ 2 wins over Oscar & Margarito recently) , Miguel Cotto & the most anticipated match w/ Pacquiao (if he succeed against Hatton)...even though i'm a fan of his, i already suspected from the very start that he's avoiding Cotto a risingstar that time & a threat to his undefeated record...if he really wants to be considered as one of the greatest in history, i believe he has the brilliant talent to overcome odds, or whatever factors that contributed to being great...he needs to prove that he has the heart & i think he has that fear factor to lose that denies him to be one of the greatest fighter in history...

Come on dawg... everyone puts Floyd Mayweather Jr on a pedestal but look at the last 12 fights of his career. All of them either over the hill or b class fighters and one of them even beat his ass (first castillo fight). Ok I'll give him Hatton as a grade A fighter but with over 40 fights though. Now compare his soft resume against the mosley, dlh, trinidad, pacman or any of these top current and former champs. He's been taken care of real good and the opposition on his resume shows it. If he really believes he's boxing best then go out and prove it by fighting the best at their best....Last edited by zx14azx; 02-12-2009, 10:17 PM.Comment

I just wonder who he thinks he is... sure, he's done great things in boxing. But he's a nobody outside of the ring... Mayweather Promotions??? Philthy Rich Records??? What has he done other than put on a Superbowl Party... Boxing isn't revolving around him anymore, and the rest of the world never did.Comment

Funny how everyone seems to forget the half-a-dozen times Mosley turned down fighting Floyd. Now that Shane is making $2 mil per fight and Floyd is turning down $20 mil (2nd De La Hoya fight), its Floyd that is the runner. If Mosley really wanted to fight the best, he would've accepted the fight years ago. Now he's after the money that FLOYD BRINGS TO THE TABLE. Haters, get a clue.Comment
