The Top 20 Greatest Super Middleweights of All-Time

That has to be the worst All Time list ever constructed. How can anyone rate Jones over Benn and Eubank at Super Middleweight? Lacy shouldn't even be anywhere near all time lists. Unless they are titled "Who was the most hyped fighter of all time?". Toney also shouldn't be ranked, along with Jones,Mitchell and 90% of the rest.
That point ranking system is flawed.Comment

Hasn't Peter Manfredo faced a lot of big names in SMW? If he fights one or two more he surely should be ranked according to this guys statistics. Manfredo ATG!!! Manfredo ATG!!!!Comment

I've decided that I'm opposed to any list making or ATG decision making that is based on some random points system or formula. I bet someone could make a formula that would make Peter Manfredo the GOAT. It's just ******. Trusts your instincts boys, not some idiots ****** mathematical formula.
Ridiculing the writer, as you have done, is way off target as the purpose is only to create a base for arguments.
Much more interesting would be to alter the formula. Take the 'number of fellow champions faced' for instance. The formula gives one point regardless of the 'fellow champion' being way past prime. That could perhaps be changed by taking into account how many years ago the 'fellow champ' was a champ. Furthermore this parameter helps the newer champions as less alphabet titles was available 30 years ago.Comment

I'm just happy Ottke wasn't ranked #4. Putting him ahead of Jones shows the flaws in the ranking system. Jones would have beaten Ottke every second of every minute of every round. Jones would have won by shutout even if the fight were in Germany, which is typically impossible.
However, the fact that a bum like Markus Beyer is on the list, ahead of Nunn and Tommy Hearns, may be the most damning thing of all. Beyer might have lasted 90 seconds against Hearns. Maybe.Comment

I understand what it's based on. It's based on facts. But a system based on what past, present or former champions somebody fought is flawed. A 25-year-old, in his-prime fighter could beat up a 40-year-old fighter 15 years removed from his championship and get credit under this system. Think of all the fighters who beat way-past-their-prime Sugar Ray Robinson, Roberto Duran, etc. Is it a good system to reward, for instance, William Joppy for KOing a 48-year-old Duran?Comment
