    Genaro Hernandez

    Right, well basically I made this thread for two reasons;

    1. I have seen loads of threads talking about the same subjects...

    2. As you may see I have a small tribute to Genaro Hernandez in my sig, to show him respect...

    I thought I would make a thread just to show the guy some respect... and praise him for his bravery with his condition to date, I am sorry if this has already been posted in a thread but I thought I would make a fresh one.

    So anyway... I thought I would make this in respect, and try to get some other people to raise there attention to the situation a little bit, and post whatever you want here in respect to a great fighter.

    By the way I am not saying people don't respect him, I am just saying I think it would have been a good idea in me doing this so I thought I would give it a try.

    Genaro was a good champion inside the ring, and he is a TRUE CHAMPION outside the ring.. He is a great spokesman for the sport and for life, and i really hope he gets the help he needs.. i think its just sad to see what has happened to him

          Unfortunately no... I searched about it around 2 weeks ago and only saw that he has a rare condition of cancer. I looked at my sig which has been there for about 3 weeks and thought I would post some kind of tribute to him on these forums in his respect.

          I will see if there is any news about it soon... however I think if there was any update on his status it would have already been posted by BIGPOPPAPUMP... because in all fairness he/she is always sharp on the latest boxing news, whether it is a retired fighter or not.

          Lets both hope the best of him though...

              Wow, thats sad. I got tons of pictures with Genero. I was with him in Vegas about three years ago. That **** hit him quick. I do know he is without a doubt a true gentleman, not only a very skilled boxer, but also a warrior. I remember his fight with Azumah Nelson where he could have quit and won on the scorecards after a foul but choose to fight on winning a decision and the money I bet against him that night. I did manage to pick up a few dollars when he faced Mayweather Jr., which he always reminds me of when I see him. I also remember him going into the DeLaHoya fight with an already broken nose from a sparring session with Shane Mosley prior to. Bottom line is, Genero Hernandez is a Champion in every sense. I wish him the best.

                Genaro Update

                Well Genaro is still in treatment and in his honor, there is going to be a soccer fund raiser at East Los Angeles College. Look me up and get more info.

                Wishing Genaro and his family the best.

                  My pops told me about him a few weeks ago and its crazy just how hard and fast it has hit him. It's really sad, I have a great respect for people like him that are truly good people inside and outside of the ring. I hope him and his family the best.
