Fights that could have been stopped early where it not for the referee..

name some fights that would have gotten stopped early where it not for the referee.

Shane Mosley v. Vernon Forrest - most refs would have stopped it after the second knock down. Shane was out on his feet pretty much the whole round, he even walked to the wrong corner.
Because he was considered P4P No. 1 I believe Smoger gave him the benefit of the doubt.

Juan Manuel Marquez v. Manny Pacquiao - I like Marquez but so much for Joe Cortez being "biased" against Mexicans. Most referees, even though there wasn't a three knock down rule, would have probably stopped it. Marquez didn't look so much hurt as he looked dazed but it would have been enough for other refs to stop it.

Kelly Pavlik v. Jermain Taylor - I think Smoger let it continue because kelly did a good job of clinching after he was knocked the f'k down. You gotta LOVE Smoger though.. He knows just when to call em. Kelly came back to win the fight too!

    Any others?

Gatti's been out of it many times and given a chance to come back. Lacy coulda been stopped anytime after the 7th or 8th rd against Joe C. Marg was given a chance against SSM. And I remember Cooper gettin beaten to **** by Holy in many rds before Lane finally halted him.

De La Hoya vs. Quartey round 12
Holyfield vs. Tyson I round 10

Both reffed by the late Mitch Halpern

      Gatti-Ward I
      Cooney-Spinks

But then again every Frank Cappachino fight is a slow stoppage

The most graphic one that I can think of is Emile Griffith vs Benny Paret 3, for some reason Ruby Goldstein, who had a reputation of stopping fights rather quickly, was slow to stop this fight, Paret ended up taking over 20 flush punches to the head and went into a coma and died a few days later.
