Mosley thought the punishment for Margarito was a little harsh

"I just think that Capetillo was the one wrapping his hands and knew what was going on," Mosley told ESPN.com. "He should be penalized. Margarito probably should not be as penalized. Capetillo was the one who did it. Margarito is the fighter and he just probably put his hands out there to be wrapped and ready to fight. Capetillo went to the rules meeting. He's the one who knew how to wrap the hands. He took it upon himself to make the wrap different. It should be mainly Capetillo who gets the brunt of everything."

It seems like the fighter that would have been the most potentially affected by the handwrap fiasco doesn't blame Margarito. It's funny how everyone else that is several levels removed from the issue at hand prefers to put the blame on him instead of his trainer. Arum plans to appeal the decision and make fights in Mexico for Margarito in the meantime.

maybe shane knows that maybe as a boxer you have earphones on or looking down while your hands are being wrapped trying to consentrate on the fight trying to get in the zone, and keep your mind on the fight.... who knows, maybe he is just trying to say that maybe marge wasn't really paying attention while getting wrapped

I agree with Shane, he makes a good point. Its like a Nascar driver being penalised for what his mechanics do to the engine. He just drives the car!

If you trust your trainer and have a strong relationship you don't second guess everything they do. I highly doubt any fighter will be paranoid about what their trainer does and interrogate them at every step. If Capetillo abused that trust then I don't think Margarito should suffer the same fate as his trainer. Capetillo has probably wrapped his hands a thousand times and I doubt Margarito watches over him like a hawk each and every time questioning him about mundane everyday stuff.

Everyone who knows Margarito describes him as a nice guy. There's no way he could keep a straight face if he knew his trainer was loading his gloves the whole time. The irony is while Capetillo may have secretly tried to help Margarito gain an advantage he ended up destroying his fighter's reputation and possibly his career.

Mosley's sympathy comes with a little bit of experience himself, being in the hot seat and all, so he must know how it is to be put on blast for things you have been involved in. I don't know if I can believe him not knowing that he had a hard substance in his own wrappings, I mean he must have gave it a second thought for a second and think about whether it was right or not, but, we will never really know.

I can see where he's coming from and to an extent I agree. I mean, a fighter puts his trust in their trainer. The trainer is supposed to do everything possible to help his fighter win and also to look out for his well being. I'm sure margarito would do anything this guy told him to, who like tony even said is a father figure to him. Of course the fighter must make his own decisions and must take blame for any actions in and outside of the ring, but I can understand how a fighter could get caught up in something like this.

It's sad because Margarito does seem like a good guy, a guy who worked his way to the top the hard way. I do feel a little bad for him, but in the end, he really only has himself to blame.

Lets not blind ourselves now. Lets not be that ******. Lets not forget that this is coming from a fighter who is using the same, lame, "I didn't know" defense for his steroid use. It wouldn't make sense for him to say that Marg had to know what was going on, when shane himself is using the same excuse. As far as the punishment, he knows he can just as easily be on the same boat. I know that as his fan you want to justify what Marg did. But this......no.
