Note that The Ring article says:

So The Ring's reporter seemed to think the jury is still out.

There was also supposedly a hard pad inserted in there that was found and presented as evidence, Margarito must have felt that.

He doesn't seem to think the jury is out judging by this article.

How can you punish someone when you can’t prove he did something wrong? That’s a reasonable question.

At the same time, the state’s attorney, Karen Chappelle, came up with a good analogy when she compared Margarito to an athlete who tests positive for steroids and then claims he didn’t know what was going into his body.

No one believes these athletes. Why should we believe Margarito? The su****ion here is that you can feel a hard pad when it’s placed against your knuckles, particularly when you’ve been fighting since you were 8, as he has.

And even if Margarito somehow didn’t know, he should have. An athlete has the responsibility of overseeing his body and what goes in it and on it – even if he relies on a trainer to look out for him.

And I think he felt it.

Okay point taken. Still not as cut and dried as most posters seem to think, IMO, but I agree it looks bad and that the punishment is fully justified.

Mind you the final paragraph of your quote applied equally to Mosley and the steroids.

Fair point, but still, reading the detailed reports about what came out at the hearings, I think it's perfectly plausible that Margarito didn't know. The key point is that it wasn't the case, as most people seem to think it was, that he was found guilty of inserting inserts when no inserts should have been inserted; the inserts were supposed to have been inserted; and all he was found guilty of was that the inserts were moist. That's illegal, but not that obvious, and I think it's plausible that a fighter focussing on the fight wouldn't have noticed that they were moist. It'll be a different story of the lab results come back and say there was plaster on it, but in terms of what actually happened at the hearing, and what he was actually found guilty of, I think the jury is very much still out on whether he knowingly cheated. Especially as the commission didn't say they thought that Margarito had knowingly cheated; they said they thought the trainer had knowingly cheated, but what they said about Margarito was that he has to take responsibility for the people he employs, and that's the reason they suspended him.

If you think he didn't knowingly cheat then you are a dumb as he is.

Mosley has to be pretty careful about what he says about this, he himself is blaming the people around him for his steroid use so I don't think it's very wise of him to blame Margarito outright considering his own circumstances.

What would Mosley look like, if he came out and chastised Margarito for whats happened? if it were anyone else saying it, but Mosley it may hold some water.

I didn't say I thought he didn't know, I just said that, based on what actually happened at the hearing, it seemed plausible (by which I meant only that it was possible, not that it was probable); and that it certainly wasn't as cut and dried in terms of what he was actually found guilty of as most posters seem to think it was. But in any case, Silencers has persuaded me that it's almost certain that he did know, and that whether he knew or not, he should have known, and that the punishment was therefore fully justified.

Licensed revoked a year and he can still fight in Mexico is a slap on the wrist. A fighter's hands are considered weapons, even police consider them that, a cop told my father since he used to box his hands are considered lethal weapons and having a "hardened substance" in your wraps to me should be considered attempted murder.

That's why I keep stressing those articles, because that's not what was said at the hearings at all.
