I actually don't even know who Mares is lol, but I know Juanma and of course Gamboa. I would rather see these two fighters develop their career for a couple more years before facing one another in the ring.

Though it seems like its Juanma with more polish and has faced the stiffer competition, Gamboa looks like a super athelete, he is in tremoundous shape. Juanma is in championship shape too but Gamboa really looks strong and relentless.

Nevertheless, I would put my money on Juanma at Featherweight, he is the better all around fighter IMO, Gamboa gets hit alot, he has been dropped, and has not faced the same quality opponents as Juanma.

Though I think that he Juanma needs to look really well against penalosa because he has to show quality against more accredited opponents in addition to De leon, though a great win.

Juan Ma definitely has taken the step towards better competition compared to Mares. But that doesn't mean Mares is slow in development. Nacho Beristrain is trying to teach him the perfect balance between controlled aggression and defense. Abner gets hit a lot when he opens up right now. But the kid is a great prospect. Has the signature Beristrain combination punching and counters.

People talk about Gamboa needing time, but thats just not gonna happen. The guy had over 400 amateur fights, and won an Olympic Gold Medal. He spent his whole life poor, and he is 27 years old. He isnt going to take his time, he is gonna try shoot for the top as soon as he can. Its gonna be fun to watch him try.
I am not a Juanma Lopez hater, but the kid has not proven anything to me, and his bigger supporters are starting to annoy me. A lot of people act like he is the dominate guy at 122 already, and are talking about 126 and 130, when he hasnt proven he has anything other than a big punch. Kid might be legit, but he has a lot to prove.
I like Mares, kid is loaded with talent. I was disappointed he didnt get that fight with Penalosa last year.
