    ..Biggest Misconception In Boxing...

What do you think it is? Who is it about? WHat is it about? Is it a new one, old one?

Personally, I think it's that a fighters power/punch never goes. The heavy-handed argument.

Actually, as you age. Your joints become more stiff, you lose speed, accuracy, snap, and the ability to throw it when you decide. All of that factors in to how hard you punch. One can point to George Foreman and say look what he's able to accomplish. And that's all well and good. Don't forget, however, that he didn't punch Moore as hard as he punched Joe Frazier. Believe it or not, that was a softer punch then he threw in his hayday.

    What about yours?

Guys with a big punch have the biggest future in boxing.
Guys with great all around tools but a less than spectacular punch dont have good futures.
People are quicker to point out a lack of power than a lack of defense or boxing ability.

Accuracy is always>activity. People act surprised when a guy lands the harder and/or cleaner shots in a fight but still loses a decision when he's been thoroughly outworked. When a guy is throwin 2 or 3 times more than his opponent, the more accurate guy has to be doin damage, not just landin to sway the judges to his side. If the volume puncher is missin by a mile, no he shouldn't be gettin rds, but if he's makin at least partial contact wit his shots, he's gonna get the points a lotta times.

Yeah, and if the guy throwing volume is having a greater effect with his punches.
Example, Mosley got rounds on some cards against Cotto for landing two or three overhand rights, as opposed to 16 sharp, stiff jabs from Cotto. I dont care what anyone says, I will take 16 ramrod jabs to two overhand rights any day of the week. You can disagree with this example, but you get the point.

1 loss and a fighter is done. For some reason a lot of people believe that when a fighter loses, he's done.

That coming forward and/or throwing but not landing punches is equivalent to winning rounds.

Yeah, that one is just plane ******. Look at any top ten ATG list and count up the losses. Fighters are human, everyone losses.

THAT would have been my answer, had I not been thinking about the power situation.

Having a defensive countering style is "running".
