Jermain Taylor: Froch will never be like Joe

Taylor: Froch will never be like Joe

Jermain Taylor has told Carl Froch he does not deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as Joe Calzaghe who he rates as a legend of the sport.
Taylor is set to meet Froch in mid-to-late April with confirmation of the WBC super-middleweight contest expected during the next week.

Froch questioned whether Calzaghe deserved to be regarded as a ring 'great' following his retirement and Taylor has leapt to the defence of the Welshman insisting the Nottingham fighter does not deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as the Pride of Wales.

"It would have been one of the highlights of my career to be in the ring with a champion who has proven himself like Joe Calzaghe," Taylor said.
"The best always want to fight the best, and I wanted to fight Joe. As a fellow champion and warrior, I know the price we have to pay in the ring. Joe retired healthy, wealthy and with a Hall of Fame career.

"Although I am disappointed that we won’t face each other, I applaud his decision to leave on his own terms, and wish Joe the best of luck.
"As for Carl Froch, he is no Ray Leonard, and certainly no Joe Calzaghe, and can’t be mentioned in the same breath as those two great champions.

"Carl Froch never earned the right to be on the same canvas as Joe Calzaghe! Other than in his hometown, a bare few know the name Carl Froch, and how to spell it or pronounce it."

Do you really think Jennings will stop Cotto in 4 rounds, or are you on the wind-up?

Because if you turned out to be correct and you bet on it you'll be able to buy a small Island.

on thread: Froch comes across as eloquent and well-reasoned, so it's not ignorance, he's just a prick.

LOL, I will actually bet (money) on the fight. 1st bet ;Jennings win by KO in rd 4 and 2nd bet Jennings win in general. I know that the KO in the 4th is a bit risky but I made some calculations based on a research of both boxers, their style, recent form, power, stamina and so on. I'm not an idiot and picking an underdog all the time just for fun.

Oh btw, u guys wanna bet 2nite? put ur money on Arce in the 7th..I dont like Arce at all, he is low piece of s*** but so is Mayweather Jr..I just gotta feeling after checking out some of his fights that he may very well stand as a winner with Vic looking up on him, lying on the canvas
The funny thing is that I wish Vic to win but thats the heart but realistically Arce will win this

JT speaks. I wondered where hed got to. It would have been an honour to share the ring with JC? So why didnt he? Why no explanation about why he didnt share the ring with JC? They were of the same era, so why not? What excuses are there? He has decided to speak so why not talk properly and let it all off your chest? The best want to fight the best? So why didnt he? Was he not ambitious and beating BH was enough for him.

But JCs retirement is making waves now like it is big news. When PBF retired hardly anyone cared it seemed. But in 10 years time they will be saying where were you when JC announced his retirement, like they did with when JFK was shot. Just kidding. But it seems big news and everyone seems to have an opinion about Joe.

JT's been trying to fight Calzaghe for a while dude. He was talking about moving up before he ever even fought Pavlik.
