  • Andre Ward Decisions Buchanan; Molina Blasts Allotey

By Jake Donovan -To date, Andre Ward remains the lone American boxer to capture Olympic gold in the 21st Century.

As several members of the 2008 US Olympic boxing squad begin to dig their heels into the pro ranks, we’re still waiting for Ward’s pro career, now in its fifth year, to take off. [details]

ward definitly needs to step him oppisition compition up. he is playing it way too safe. he should of at least knocked "poo-bytch" out. especially after basically dropping the guy with a left hook in a clench, in the 2nd i think it was.
he needs to fight jermain taylor to gain back fan respect, or mine @least..

First few rounds I thought Ward looked real good, then it went on and on. Buchanan from the start of that fight looked scared to even be in the same building as War, let alone the same ring. I think he shoulda gotten Buchanan outta there because winning a D. against this level of fighter doesn't impress anyone.

I think its safe to say that Ward needs a new trainer and a new strategy. Somebody has to light a fire under his ass and tell him to start going for a knockout when you're on national television and have a chance to start making some waves. Instead of Cory Spinks"ing" his way to a lame decision.

Ward's only problem is that he might be fighting to the level of his competition. His management needs to step up his opponenets because he's ready for some real top-level fights. This fringe contenders, such as Buchannon will never bring out the best in Andre. The time is now for him. He's not getting any younger - not that he's old new, but come on. I just have a feeling that Ward can step up his game a few notches if he has to if and when he fights a Top 10 contender.

On the other hand, some credit should go to Buchannon for at least having a good chin. He took alot of hard shots and was never in much trouble.

I believe Ward defeated Boone then.Although Ward was knocked down in 4th round, but I think Ward was the winner.(I gave the scorecard --- 57:56-Ward won.)
